Arguably the Negro National League’s all-time greatest team, the Kansas City Monarchs won five consecutive NNL championships during the 1920s and went on to claim six more titles between 1937 and 1950 as members of the NAL. Monarch greats included Satchel Paige, Buck O’Neil, and even Jackie Robinson played for the 1945 squad before being scouted by Branch Rickey of the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Paige has been officially credited as playing for 17 different professional ballclubs in five different countries. However, Paige is most associated with his time playing for the Kansas City Monarchs. In particular while playing in this uniform and leading the Monarchs to their ninth league pennant and second Negro World Series title in 1942.
